Holyoke, could you expand on that please? I don’t quite follow. (And I’m particularly interested, as I’m ex-NOLA and have a bunch of my own theories about Louisiana compared/contrasted with Quebec.)

Interesting interview… but speaking as a linguist and a louisianais: I’d say that last bit represents some seriously shallow, misguided analysis. But then soliciting language theories from a tourist is never a good idea in the first place.

I might expect this lack of cultural comprehension from a self-hating West Islander (I’ve met sooo many!) in casual conversation, but that doesn’t mean it’s fit to print.
